BETTER BUILDING WITH BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING |
| BETTER BUILDING
THROUGH DIGITAL PRACTICE |

| The National Stadium Beijing for the 2008 Olympic summer games has a complex double-curved roof "woven" of steel box-girders. Understanding and visualizing the geometric and constructional complexity of this system as a basis of project success, GT provided technology and methods to produce a geometrically correct, detailed, parametric 3D model in Digital Project™. The model allowed construct analysis and componentization. The team used the model to redesign the stadium roof to simplify its structure and reduce steel quantities, thus enabling on-time completion for the summer games.>> | |

DIGITAL PRACTICE: TECHNOLOGIES, APPROACH
|
|
| |
- Better overall project comprehension for project analysis, estimates and
proposals.
- Reduction in quantity take-off preparation time, error, and unanticipated change
cost.
- Reduction in project schedule delay risk with better communication, and identification
of optimal construction sequences and object spatial clashes in advance of
construction.
- Reduction of injury risk through highlighting and resolving safety issues in
advance.
